THE FIRST BOOK OF THE ANNALS
Small capitals are what a 17th-century printer would reach for in a running head or the opening words of a chapter, and that is what this font gives you from the Fell Types. It belongs with IM Fell English: the same English size, cut originally by Christoffel van Dijck, and part of the hoard of punches and matrices that Bishop John Fell left to the University of Oxford when he died in 1686.
Igino Marini digitized it, spaced and kerned it with his iKern software, and recommends printing at 13.5 points to match the metal. There are contextual and stylistic alternates and 3 stylistic sets.
Pair it with IM Fell English for the text and use this for the first line of each chapter. The page will look like a book from Fell’s press.
