15 years, no small talk

Alistair McCready drew Special Gothic for and with Special Group, the design and advertising studio, as a typeface for its 15th birthday. His source was the early 20th century gothic sans, blunt and tenacious, reworked for the present.

The family comes in 3 widths. This is the Expanded, and it spreads a long way sideways, so every word takes real estate. For a single display style it is well equipped, with tabular and proportional figures, fractions, ordinals, case-sensitive forms and a stylistic set, all across Latin and Latin Extended.

Give it short, loud headlines on a billboard or a campaign poster. If the copy gets long, switch to the normal Special Gothic or the Condensed.
