Stack Overflow is the client behind Stack Sans. Koto, with Dylan Young as designer, split the family into a headline style and this text style so the type could stay expressive at both ends of the scale, and gave both the same mark, little notches cut into the letters, taken from the process of building things.
The Text cut is the one for reading. Its lowercase is big against the capitals and the face sets fairly wide, both things you would want in a long answer full of code references. 6 weights run from Extra Light at 200 to Bold at 700, upright only, and the 423 characters come with tabular figures, case sensitive forms and 1 stylistic set.
It reached Google Fonts in October 2025. On a documentation site we’d set paragraphs in the Regular and let the headline style handle the titles.
