Stencil breaks cut through every stroke of this serif, and to our eye the serifs give the crate-and-cargo look a more formal, almost bookish edge.
Vernon Adams made it in 2011 strictly as a display web font, meant for browsers on any device, and it arrived on Google that July with a Regular and a Bold. Adams, who earned an MA in typeface design at Reading in 2006, published 51 open families through Google, among them Oswald, Anton, Nunito and Pacifico, before a road accident in 2014 that he never fully recovered from. He died in 2016, aged 49.
Keep it at headline size. The cuts in the letters need room to read as cuts.
