Saffron tea and fresh dates
Small serif-like outstrokes at the ends of Katibeh’s strokes give it an archaic air, though the rest of the design is current. Kourosh Beigpour of KB Studio, a design studio in Los Angeles, built the Arabic on Naskh and let some qualities of Thuluth into it.
It was made as a headline font, though Arabic and Persian readers get the ligatures they are used to, so a few lines of running text do not feel foreign.
What sets it apart from most Arabic display faces is the Latin. Eduardo Tunni drew a Latin to go with it, scaled to suit the Arabic, so an English line under an Arabic title sits at a believable size; on its own the Latin looks small and condensed, which is the price of that match. Lasse Fister did the engineering. The file has lining and old style figures, a stylistic set and contextual alternates, all in 1 style.
