Garba night, all are welcome
Mogra is drawn as if with a broad-nibbed marker, and Lipi Raval let the marker swell. The letters are dense, the pen keeps a fairly fixed angle, and the bloating of the ink gives the shapes a roundness that plays against that angle. In the Gujarati it falls hardest on the out-stroke, the stroke that defines the script, which gets extra mass and some flourish.
Raval, a type designer based in Ahmedabad, drew a Latin to match. 1 Regular with contextual alternates, on Google Fonts since May 2017.
Garba night posters and sweet shop boxes, with Gujarati and English sharing a few words, are its natural home. Paragraphs, no.
