Lucas Descroix drew Syne Tactile on a trackpad. Calligraphy on a trackpad is an odd exercise, and it shows in the letters: Renaissance handwriting models, redrawn with a fingertip, come out rough at the edges and still full of flourish.
The Syne family started in 2017 as the identity of Synesthésie, an art center in Saint-Denis, on the edge of Paris, that brings different artistic personalities together, and the type follows the same idea by pairing styles that don’t normally go together. Tactile has the same x-height and optical weight as Syne Regular. Swap a word or a single letter from one to the other inside a line and nothing jumps, which is the whole fun of it.
1 style, with old style and lining figures and a stylistic set. Bonjour Monde conceived the family, and Arman Mohtadji helped with the drawing.
