Cocktails on the 14th floor
Wire One is about as thin as a font gets before it disappears: a monoline stroke close to a hairline, on letters so condensed that a line of it needs only about half the width the same words take in Arial. Alexei Vanyashin and Gayaneh Bagdasaryan of Cyreal built the characters from modules and gave them a hint of art nouveau, and at display sizes the strokes finish in tiny dots you will not see until the type is large.
Cyreal says it can even set body text above 12 pixels, provided the letter-spacing is opened up below 30 pixels, and opened a good deal more at the smallest sizes. Our view is more cautious: use it big, on a light background, for a word or a short title, and let a sturdier face do the reading.
