Yuji Hentaigana Akebono puts the hentaigana back on the keyboard: the alternate hiragana that Japanese writers used beside the standard forms until a script reform cut them in 1900. The shapes come from the calligrapher Yuji Kataoka, whose handwriting Kinuta Font Factory has been digitizing as the Yuji series.
There is no katakana here, since those variants only ever existed for hiragana.
The Latin is a curiosity of its own. Both cases come out as capitals, the lowercase keys giving small caps, which is why a word in it looks so broad and so level. Fine for a title or a shop name, and not much past that.
A second hentaigana font, Yuji Hentaigana Akari, sits beside this one, and the wider series has Boku, Mai and Syuku. Akebono was added to Google Fonts in June 2021: 1 style, 336 characters.
