Zalando Sans was drawn as the house typeface of Zalando, the fashion and lifestyle company, and this is the SemiExpanded slice of it. Jakob Ekelund of KH Type in Stockholm designed the family in 2025 together with Zalando’s brand and product design teams in Berlin: a grotesque with clean lines and the odd moment of personality.
The full variable family runs from ExtraLight to Black and from Condensed to Expanded, with matching italics. SemiExpanded sits between the normal width and Expanded. Here it comes as 16 static styles, every weight from ExtraLight to Black with its italic.
Tabular and proportional figures, case sensitive forms and 3 stylistic sets cover the shop basics, prices and order numbers and size charts. We would give the SemiExpanded short headings and buttons, and let a narrower width from the family carry long text.
