Anton Koovit wrote Allan a biography. In it, Allan used to be a sign painter in Berlin, doing gray panel work in the subway with bad materials in a city split in 2. These days, the story goes, he has a wider life: he travels, he cooks and eats well, and parties no longer frighten him.
Koovit is an Estonian designer, trained in graphic design at the Estonian Academy of Arts and in type design at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague. His Adam was the first typeface by an Estonian to enter the FontShop library, he drew the slab serif Arvo, and he worked with the brand team on Aino, the official typeface of Brand Estonia.
Allan is narrow and made for big sizes, in Regular and Bold. A menu board, a festival flyer, a shop sign would all wear it well.
