In Asap Condensed a word set in Bold takes exactly the room it took in Regular. That is the trick Omnibus-Type built the whole Asap family on: every style shares the same character widths, so you can change weight or go into italic on the fly and the paragraph will not reflow. In a narrow face, where every character of width is spoken for, that matters even more.
Pablo Cosgaya and Nicolás Silva designed Asap for screens and desktop use, with Andrés Torresi collaborating, and they started from an older Omnibus face, Ancha, which Cosgaya had drawn with Hector Gatti. The name is the abbreviation, as soon as possible. The corners are rounded slightly, enough to soften the letters without making them cute.
This condensed version, on Google Fonts since December 2016, goes further than the original 8 styles. It has 8 weights from Extra Light to Black, each with an italic, 16 files in all, Latin plus Vietnamese.
Its figures are the reason we would put it in a dashboard. Tabular and proportional, lining and old style, a slashed zero for IDs and codes, fractions, subscripts. A narrow column of numbers in Regular, the headings in Bold, and nothing jumps when a value gets highlighted.
