Mariela Monsalve found Asul’s source in old print: a typeface used in Argentine books and magazines in the early 20th century. She revived it for editorial work.
She calls it baroque humanist, and its serifs are only half there, semi-serifs, which gives it a period flavor without the stiffness of a full serif. There is a Regular and a Bold, basic Latin, on Google Fonts since December 2011.
The section heads of a culture magazine or the title of an essay would suit it. With only 2 weights and no italic, longer text needs a partner face.
