The ৰ and the ৱ are in Baloo Da 2, so it sets Assamese as well as Bengali; both languages write in the same script, and those 2 letters are the ones Assamese needs on top.
Noopur Datye and Sulekha Rajkumar drew the Bangla.
A detail you might miss: the e and ai vowel signs, ে and ৈ, come in 2 drawings each. The form used at the start of a word leaves off the small stub of headline that the other one carries. The shaping makes the choice, nobody has to pick it by hand.
Under the alphabet there are well over 300 extra glyphs for conjuncts, ক্ষ and its kin, with the ya-phala and the ra forms. The taka sign ৳ and the khanda ta ৎ are included.
As for use, the headline, the matra, runs thick across each word and gives Bengali in Extra Bold a heavy, blocky top edge that reads from across a street. A Durga Puja pandal sign is the obvious home. For a children’s book the Regular works for a few lines a page.
