Now showing at the Palace
Liquor stores and grand old theaters taught Bungee its trick. Their signs often had nowhere to go but up, so the letters were stacked on top of each other, and David Jonathan Ross built a family that sets both ways, across and down.
Stacking changes the drawing. The O and the A were flattened at the sides, and serifs went onto the L and the I, which keeps the edges of a vertical word straight.
Where Outline fits
It is the hollow member of 7 Bungee variants on Google Fonts, the others being Bungee itself, Hairline, Inline, Shade and the 2 color fonts, Tint and Spice. On its own an outline reads light. We would layer it over solid Bungee in a second color, which the downloadable releases support with special layer fonts for programs that cannot handle color fonts.
The 2023 to 2024 revision by Marte Verhaegen and Just van Rossum added an automated build and improved the vertical features. This file holds 1,082 characters, Vietnamese included, and 11 stylistic sets.
