Chivo means goat in Spanish, and it was the first grotesque Omnibus-Type ever made. Héctor Gatti developed it around 2 poles: a strong Black for highlights and headlines, and a Regular quiet enough for continuous reading.
In October 2022 the family filled in everything between, Thin to Black with matching italics, and the glyph set grew to cover more languages. That gives you 18 static styles here.
Figures are where it is well stocked. Old style, lining, tabular and proportional, plus a slashed zero, so a financial table and a paragraph of prose can come from the same files.
Our pick is still the original pairing. Set a headline in Black over Regular text and most of the design work is done.
