Notes From The Reading Room
The reading room opens onto a quiet courtyard. Along the shelves, small handwritten labels mark the collections. A visitor leaves a book open beside the window, keeping a place for the next reader.
A heading marks the next chapter. The margins leave room for a note while the text continues across the page.

Unicase is 1 of 9 visual styles in the Cormorant project, alongside Roman, Italic, Garamond, the Infant versions, Upright Cursive and Small Caps, and every one of them comes in 5 weights from Light to Bold, 45 font files in all. Christian Thalmann, who works in Zurich under the name Catharsis Fonts, conceived, drew, spaced, kerned, programmed and produced all of it himself, with Claude Garamont’s legacy as the inspiration and no existing font traced. Google Fonts funded the development, and the Typophile, TypeDrawers and Typografie forums supplied a lot of feedback along the way.
This Unicase cut carries 972 characters per weight, with Cyrillic and Vietnamese next to the extended Latin, and the OpenType list includes small caps, tabular figures, a slashed zero and 4 stylistic sets.
It is a display face, Thalmann says so of the whole family, and the Unicase is the most display of the lot in our view. A logotype or the title on a book jacket at 40 px and up is the right home; in running text it would only trip the reader.
