Headings, labels and running text.

Notes From The Reading Room

The reading room opens onto a quiet courtyard. Along the shelves, small handwritten labels mark the collections. A visitor leaves a book open beside the window, keeping a place for the next reader.

A heading marks the next chapter. The margins leave room for a note while the text continues across the page.

The number in the name is an instruction. Slabo 13px was tuned by John Hudson to sit on the pixel grid at 13 px, and that is the size to use it at; its sibling, Slabo 27px, does the same job at 27.

Tiro Typeworks, the Canadian foundry Hudson works with, made the Slabo collection for online advertising and other web uses, where small type on a screen has to stay sharp. At other sizes the tuning is wasted, and we would reach for a general text face there. 1 Regular, Latin, on Google Fonts since May 2014.
