Notes From The Reading Room
The reading room opens onto a quiet courtyard. Along the shelves, small handwritten labels mark the collections. A visitor leaves a book open beside the window, keeping a place for the next reader.
A heading marks the next chapter. The margins leave room for a note while the text continues across the page.

The Baskerville that American Type Founders sold in 1941 is the starting point. Impallari Type, Pablo Impallari with Rodrigo Fuenzalida, wanted it readable on a screen at 16 px, so they raised the x-height and opened up the counters. Contrast came down a little too.
The cost is width. Letters this big need room sideways, and a column that held a comfortable line of Georgia will hold noticeably less of this.
The italic pulls the other way. It runs 12% narrower than the roman, so a long quotation set in italic stays compact on the page.
8 styles, Regular to Bold with an italic for each, and 789 characters with Vietnamese, discretionary ligatures and fractions among them. Google has offered it since November 2012.
Keep it at 16 px and up, the size it was made for, and give the container some extra width than you would for most serifs.
