Let ε be small and positive
Inside the file this font is called DejaVu Math TeX Gyre, and the second half of the name says where it came from. The DejaVu project drew the text faces; the math was built by GUST’s e-foundry in Poland, the group behind the TeX Gyre fonts, and the 2016 copyright on the math extensions belongs to Bogusław Jackowski, Piotr Strzelczyk and Piotr Pianowski.
It exists only as an OpenType math font, following the standard that lets a typesetting engine stretch brackets and stack limits from data inside the font. GUST notes that Microsoft Office from the 2007 version on can use it for equations as well.
1 Regular style, 2,112 characters. The Latin and Greek letters keep the DejaVu shapes, so an x in a formula looks like the x in the sentence above it, and that is the reason to choose it: pair it with DejaVu Sans or DejaVu Serif in a paper and the math no longer looks borrowed from another book. Set next to Times, the same equation would look like a patch.
