Notes From The Reading Room

The reading room opens onto a quiet courtyard. Along the shelves, small handwritten labels mark the collections. A visitor leaves a book open beside the window, keeping a place for the next reader.

A heading marks the next chapter. The margins leave room for a note while the text continues across the page.

Kreon was made for running text on magazine and news websites. Julia Petretta gave it a slight slab-serif flavor and low contrast, and the low contrast is the practical part, since there are no hairlines to break up on a screen.

5 weights, Light at 300 to Bold at 700, no italics. For a blog or an online magazine it makes a plain workhorse, with Bold carrying the headlines and Regular the articles. Petretta made it with Eli Heuer, and it has been on Google Fonts since 2011.
