Type a tilde and all 14 segments light at once; type ! and they all go dark.
Keshikan built these 2 switches into every DSEG14 font, and they make the faint unlit segments of a real display easy to fake: put a row of tildes in a pale gray behind your text, then set the lit characters on top in full color. A screen mockup gets the ghosting of an LCD for free.
Of the 2 DSEG14 drawings, Modern is the sharper one. Its segments end in a slanted cut, and the diagonals run right into the middle joint, so the crossing strokes of an M, a W or a slashed 0 meet at the center. In Classic they stop short of it.
There are 93 characters: A to Z in both cases, the figures, most ASCII punctuation, a degree sign and ±. Type in lowercase and the capitals come back, since a 14-segment grid has no separate small letters to offer. Light, Regular and Bold, each with an italic.
Developers can pull it in with npm (the package is called dseg), and Ubuntu carries it as fonts-dseg.
