Old LP sleeves from the 1960s, when Latin music was everywhere and salsa as a genre had not arrived yet, are where John Vargas Beltrán went for Boogaloo’s shapes. The lettering on those covers was classic American sign lettering. He started the font in 2010, thinking of it as a partner for the Salsa typeface and of type in Latin American music generally.
It is upright, a little condensed, with plenty of bounce in the round letters. 1 style, 281 characters, Latin only, with kerning.
You could set a club night flyer in it, or the track list on a reissue. It will read as 1960s whether you want that or not.
