Eben Sorkin, David Berlow, Dave Crossland and Chris Betcher led the team behind the AU School Handwriting Fonts, a project to match Australian education standards with fonts that work equally well at a kitchen table and in a classroom. Edu SA Hand is its South Australian member, designed by Tina and Corey Anderson. Pupils there start on Beginner Print and move to Precursive Print around Year 3 or 4.
From the single SaHand source, the project’s build makes a whole set of teaching variants, each frozen from a stylistic set:
- Precursive, Cursive and Starters
- Outline, Outline Arrows and Dotted
Here you get the 4 weights of the hand itself, Regular to Bold, with 6 stylistic sets and 383 characters. Version 2.000 came out in March 2024, and Google Fonts listed it in May 2025, next to the older Edu SA Beginner family it has had since 2022.
