Notes From The Reading Room
The reading room opens onto a quiet courtyard. Along the shelves, small handwritten labels mark the collections. A visitor leaves a book open beside the window, keeping a place for the next reader.
A heading marks the next chapter. The margins leave room for a note while the text continues across the page.

Letters from the southern coast
Fernando Díaz cut Fenix to save room. The proportions were planned to gain space both up and across, and against Georgia a sentence in Fenix comes out 6.6% shorter, which is a fair few characters more per line in a column.
The rest of its look comes from the pen. Díaz leaned on calligraphy for it, and the serifs are strong while the strokes are left rough at the edges, so up close the letters have a hand-cut grain you would not get from a cleaner book face. He meant it for display and for long text both.
Is 1 weight enough for long text? For a short story or a magazine column, yes, if you can live without italic. A full book would miss it.
It landed on Google Fonts in September 2012. There are 231 characters, all Latin.
