Condensed is the Fira width for when the normal one runs out of room, in narrow columns or a navigation bar on a small screen.
There are 3 Fira widths with italics and a monospaced cousin. Carrois in Berlin drew it together with Edenspiekermann to match Mozilla’s Firefox OS on cheap and good handsets alike, and the font data carries the copyright of the Mozilla Foundation and Telefonica.
What you get in the download:
- 18 styles, Thin at 100 through Black at 900, every weight with an italic.
- Latin with Vietnamese, plus Greek and Cyrillic.
- Small caps, old style and tabular figures, a slashed zero, contextual alternates and 4 stylistic sets.
The italics run at nearly the same width as the romans, a small mercy in a tight table. When a layout is short on width and long on text, we’d reach for this early.
