Big letters in a narrow body: Fjalla One has a very tall lowercase and condensed proportions, so at any given point size it looks a size larger than the text around it while taking less width. For news headlines and landing pages we’d count that as the main reason to use it.
Irina Smirnova drew it with Sorkin Type as a display sans of medium contrast and then tuned it hard for the limits of the screen. The upshot is a display face that still behaves at smaller sizes, a subhead or a button label as well as a banner.
A March 2023 upgrade widened the Latin language coverage and reworked the horizontal spacing for better readability. Vietnamese is in there. There are tabular figures as well, handy for a sports score or a stock line in a headline. Only Regular.
