Cantora was drawn from the outside in. Pablo Impallari began with the space around the letters, the shapes between and inside them, and only then let the letters form, an approach he took from the methods of Michael Harvey and Evert Bloemsma. Rodrigo Fuenzalida is credited alongside him.
The name means singer in Spanish. Impallari describes it with a string of halves: semi formal, semi condensed, semi sans. The stems mix straight and bowed lines, there is a trace of hand lettering in the curves, and although it has no serifs the lowercase keeps serif proportions.
He recommends it for headings above 20 px, H1 to H3 on a web page, and we agree; at body sizes the bowed stems start to look wobbly. 1 weight, 441 Latin glyphs, 2 stylistic sets. On Google Fonts since July 2012.
