Aadarsh Rajan drew the Tamil, and only the Tamil. That was how Ek Type ran the whole Anek project: 10 scripts, each handed to the designer who knew it best, with Yesha Goshar on the Latin that ships alongside it here.
Tamil brings some furniture of its own, and Rajan drew all of it: the old signs for day, month and year, the debit, credit and “as above” marks of account books, the Tamil numbers for 10, 100 and 1,000, and a Tamil rupee sign next to the Indian one. A price card or a receipt in Tamil can stay in this 1 font. Like its 9 siblings, the Tamil starts from features the whole team agreed on and then follows its own type culture.
The full family has widths from condensed to wide. This file gives the normal width in 8 weights, Thin at 100 up to Extra Bold at 800. Ek Type itself points to the heaviest weights as the liveliest, with sharp terminals and tapered joins set against a regular structure, and we agree: for a Tamil film poster or a shop wordmark, start at Bold and go heavier. 2 stylistic sets and tabular figures are in there for the duller jobs.
