Blocks stacked to the ceiling
Type a word in Flow Block and you get no word back, only a solid bar about the length and height of it. That is the whole idea. Dan Ross built the Flow family so designers can show where text goes in a mockup or a wireframe without anyone stopping to read lorem ipsum, and he left in sub-pixels, overlaps and small artifacts so the bars do not look machine-perfect.
Block is 1 of 3 styles; the others are Circular and Rounded. Google Fonts published it in October 2021.
Each bar still follows the letters underneath. A short heading makes a short slab, a long paragraph wraps like a paragraph would, and when the final copy arrives you change the font and nothing in the layout shifts. The 765 characters cover Latin, Cyrillic and Vietnamese, so a mockup for a Russian or Vietnamese site wraps on the right lengths as well.
Where it falls short: nobody can proofread a block. Keep it for the early rounds, before the words matter.
