The version number, 2026.09.25, is a date. TakWolf names Fusion Pixel releases by the day they were cut, and each one is generated by a Python program: his own Pixel Font Builder and Pixel Font Knife do the assembling, with FontTools and Pillow underneath. The bitmap glyphs from several source fonts go in, and font files for every size, mode and language come out.
This file is one of those outputs, the 8 pixel size in the proportional mode with Simplified Chinese forms. The Han characters follow the Table of General Standard Chinese Characters that China’s State Council published in 2013.
Proportional mode lets each character take the width its shape needs and adds kerning, and it puts the baseline where ordinary typesetting expects it. The project recommends it over the monospaced mode unless you have a reason for the grid. At 8 pixels the gain shows most in Latin, where narrow letters such as i and l close up to their neighbors; in a fixed half cell they would float.
28,409 characters in 1 Regular, covering Latin, kana, Hangul, Bopomofo and the Han set.
A Chinese status bar or a small HUD line, where every pixel of height counts, is the right job for it. Long dialogue reads easier at 10 or 12.
