Heavy rain expected Friday

Ga means “to add” in Korean, and Soek, to Korean ears, calls up a Chinese character with the feel of stone, thick and hard. Put together, the name promises extra weight on top of stone, and the font keeps the promise. Its strokes are so heavy they fill nearly the whole box each character sits in.

What stops it from turning into black blobs is a Hangeul habit. Jiashuo Zhang of JAMO ended the strokes in right angles, the way Hangeul strokes tend to finish, and that leaves small, clean counters inside each syllable so it still reads.

The Latin letters are very wide, with a big lowercase. 1 style, 2 stylistic sets. Use it big and short, a poster headline, an album cover; it arrived on Google Fonts in May 2023.
