Dodum is the Korean style name for a sans serif Hangeul text face, and gowun means neat and delicate. Put together, Gowun Dodum promises a tidy sans with some warmth in it, and Yanghee Ryu delivered it: a humanist design where you can still sense the movement of a hand inside the strokes.
It is a big file for 1 style, 12,494 characters, because a full Hangeul set is large, and there is Latin with Vietnamese accents beside it. The Latin carries tabular and proportional figures, fractions and the rest, so prices in a Korean shop listing will line up.
Google added it in June 2021. We would use it for app copy and short paragraphs at 14 to 18 px. There is only Regular, so headlines need a heavier partner.
