Set a sentence of lowercase in Karantina and in Arial and the Karantina version needs 41.5% less room. That is an extreme squeeze, tall and tight letters standing shoulder to shoulder, and it is the reason to pick this font.

The name gives away the date. Rony Koch drew it, Hebrew and Latin side by side, during the long days of COVID-19 quarantine, and it reached Google Fonts in March 2021.

  • Light, Regular and Bold, no italics
  • discretionary ligatures, fractions, ordinals and superscripts

Where would we use it? A poster headline that has to be big and still fit, a Hebrew and English sign squeezed into a narrow strip. Small text is a different story, since letters that compressed close up quickly below about 16 px.
