There is no upright here. Karla Tamil Inclined holds only the slanted Tamil styles of Jonathan Pinhorn’s Karla, Italic at 400 and Bold Italic at 700, and the Latin partner lives on its own Karla page, so these files carry the Tamil letters and numerals and no Latin alphabet at all.

Karla is a grotesque sans, and the Tamil follows it with 114 characters per weight.

A practical warning comes from the designer’s notes. The font depends on OpenType layout shaping, which Mac OS X, Windows and GNU+Linux all handle, but iOS only did AAT shaping, and these files have none, so on iPhones and iPads the Tamil would not render correctly and the system’s own font took over.
