The 50 and the 60 that turn up next to the M+ code fonts are widths. Coji Morishita drew the monospaced Latin in 2 settings, with characters at 50% and at 60% width, so you can choose between packing more columns on screen or giving each letter more air.
He made it for programming, inside the M+ FONTS project, and the brief was letters that hold up when the code is set small and that are hard to misread for one another, which is what an editor at 2 in the morning needs most.
There are 7 weights, Thin through Bold. In a code font that is a luxury; you could set comments in Light and leave the rest in Regular, and the columns stay lined up because every character takes the same advance. The Latin runs past ASCII into extended accents and Vietnamese, with fractions, superscripts and both tabular and proportional figures.
