Kurdish, Persian, Urdu and Jawi all get Arabic support in Marhey, which is unusual reach for a playful display face. Nur Syamsi and Bustanul Arifin at Namelatype built it from custom hand lettering with contrast in the strokes, going for something lively and expressive, and drew a Latin to match with Central European accents.
5 weights, Light to Bold. Contextual and stylistic alternates are included, along with discretionary ligatures. Google added it in October 2022.
The Latin lowercase is small under tall capitals, so a lowercase heading reads a size smaller than you’d expect. Keep it big and short, on a bazaar poster or a snack packet.
