Type the word calming in a normal monospace and the m looks squeezed while the l floats in a box too big for it. Argon fixes that as you type. Its contextual alternates spot pairs like this and swap in a slightly narrower l that gives up some of its space, and a wider m that reaches into it, all without leaving the monospaced grid. GitHub Next and Lettermatic call this texture healing.

The humanist one

Monaspace has 5 families on shared metrics, and Argon is the humanist sans among them. It shares 1 option with Neon alone, the character variant cv11, which gives alternate j, f, r and t, and like the other 3 non-mechanical members it has cv10 for different l and i shapes.

It has also traveled. LXGW Bright Code, from the maker of LXGW WenKai, pairs those Chinese characters with Argon’s Latin.

14 styles in the normal width, Extra Light to Extra Bold, each with an italic, and Latin, Greek, Cyrillic and Vietnamese. If you find grotesque coding fonts cold, this is the member to try first.
