Mrs Sheppard is a fiction. Charles Bluemlein made up the name, and in a way he made up the hand too.
The script comes from his collection, put together during the years when lettering in the United States was done by hand; from the early 1930s through World War II there were about 200 professional hand letterers working in New York City alone. His raw material was signatures, real ones, which he pulled apart and rebuilt as complete alphabets. Since the finished alphabets resembled none of the signers, each went out under a name of his own choosing, and Higgins Ink put them in its catalogs. The trade did not survive photo lettering, and digital type took care of what was left.
Alejandro Paul and his Sudtipos foundry brought the Bluemlein scripts back as digital fonts and kept the fictional names. Mrs Sheppards reached Google Fonts in November 2011.
It writes narrow, with a tiny lowercase under tall looping capitals, so a name set in it takes little room across and a lot of room up. 232 Latin glyphs, 1 style. Use it for a signature line or the names on a wedding card, at a size where the capitals can swing.
