Hangul in a code comment or a string has to keep to the same grid as the Latin around it, and Nanum Gothic Coding was built for that. It was made from Nanum Gothic, the sans Naver released in October 2008, and reshaped for editors and terminals so that every character takes the same fixed width.
The usual troublemakers are separated. Capital I, lowercase l and the digit 1 look different from each other, and so do 0, O and o. The hinting was done by hand for ClearType, to keep it sharp on the monitors programmers use, and Hangul, Latin and Japanese kana are all covered. There are no hanja, so Chinese characters fall back to whatever other font the system has.
Sandoll Communications designed it, with Naver as publisher. Regular and Bold.
