Ryoichi Tsunekawa, who runs the Japanese foundry Dharma Type and drew Bebas Neue, has a soft spot for monospaced type. Best Choice, Calling Code, Code Saver, Debugger and Senpai Coder are all his, and Sometype Mono, designed in 2017 and 2018, joined that line for coding and for tabular layout, where every character has to keep to its column.
The first release had 6 styles and was promoted through his site monospacedfonts.com. The version here has 8: Regular, Medium, Semi Bold and Bold, each with an italic, and the italics take up exactly the width of the roman, as a monospace must.
There are contextual and stylistic alternates, plus fractions and superscripts. Set code at Regular, and use Medium for a dark theme where thin strokes can look weak.
