Notes from the monastery library

In Marchen a consonant can hang beneath another one, and those subjoined letters are the main work in this font. The Unicode block holds only 73 characters, yet the stacks need shapes of their own, so the font builds them through contextual alternates and wants software that handles complex text layout. Marchen, or Greater Mar, is a historical Indic abugida written left to right, kept by followers of the Tibetan Bön religion for the Zhang-zhung language. Noto draws it in 1 Regular weight, plain and even, with Latin alongside for transliteration and notes.
