30,890 characters sit in each weight of Noto Sans SC, most of them Han ideographs in the Simplified Chinese forms used for the languages of mainland China. A font that size is a team job. Ken Lunde was project architect and defined the glyph set, with Masataka Hattori on production and ideograph elements.
Adobe produced it, and Google carries it in the Noto collection, where it went up in October 2018.
It is a plain, unmodulated sans in 9 weights, Thin at 100 to Black at 900. Hiragana, katakana and hangul are in the set too, so a page that wanders between Chinese, Japanese, Korean and English keeps 1 voice the whole way.
Why pick it over a Chinese face with more personality? Coverage and calm. In an app interface, a form or a long article the Regular and Medium will carry the reading, and the Black makes a confident poster line. Expect big files with that many glyphs.
