Wedding invitation from Darbhanga
Maithili has some 35 million speakers across India and Nepal, and most of them now write it in Devanagari. Its own script, Tirhuta, also called Mithilakshar, still turns up on ceremonial occasions, and this Noto font keeps it usable on a computer.
The Monotype Design Team drew it with even strokes and added 3 stylistic sets for variant forms, plus a Latin set. It is an Indic abugida, so shaping support matters; set it in an app that handles complex scripts.
