Naum Veqilharxhi devised the Vithkuqi alphabet around 1840 to write Albanian. Like Latin it has an upper and a lower case and reads left to right, and today it counts as a historical script.
Noto Serif Vithkuqi gives it a serif setting in 4 weights, Regular through Bold. Lewis McGuffie drew it for Noto, Google’s collection meant to cover every modern and ancient language, and it joined Google Fonts in October 2022.
A plain Latin set comes along, so a transcription and its source can sit on 1 line. That and the weights are what we would use it for: a paper or a museum caption where Vithkuqi words need showing, with Bold headings above them.
