Names cut into the old stone
Cut, Flat, Oval, Round, Slim and Square: Wojciech Kalinowski named the Nova fonts by their shapes, and Flat is 1 of the 6. They all trace back to NovaCut, an alphabet he first drew years earlier for carving inscriptions in stone, capitals and digits only.
The move to a computer came in 2010, under the working name Gothica, and that is when the small letters got drawn. Spare variants of letters piled up during the job and became the 6 Novas, with NovaMono following as a 7th.
Nova Flat has 1 Regular style with 418 characters and extended Latin. A heading or a sign, set fairly large.
