In Matt McInerney’s account, the sci-fi film future has lost nearly all of its fonts in whatever apocalypse sent people off the planet, and the handful of geometric faces that survived now letter the spaceship hulls, the station signs, the logos of monopoly corporations and the uniforms with aerodynamic shoulder pads. He drew Orbitron so designers would have something besides Eurostile and Bank Gothic for that job, and for the posters of those films.
It first came out through The League of Moveable Type and was remastered in 2019.
The letters are wide and geometric, with a tall lowercase. The files here hold 6 weights, Regular through Black, along with small caps, stylistic alternates and 3 stylistic sets. Latin only, 207 characters.
Use the small caps. A title set in capitals with small caps for the second line has more depth than one in caps throughout, and it keeps the wide letters from running off the edge of the poster.
