Ishtār van Looy looked back at Gill Sans and Albertus, an early humanist sans and a glyphic serif, for their cold sophistication, and tried to bring what makes them distinctive into line with how sans serifs are drawn today. The result is what van Looy calls a semi-glyphic humanist sans.
It changes character with size. Small, in a paragraph, it is friendly and easy to read. Large, in the light weights and above all in capitals, a glyphic, naturalistic quality comes forward. So the place to see Amarna properly is an all-caps title in Thin or Extra Light, spaced out a little.
There are 7 weights from Thin at 100 to Bold at 700, each with an italic that keeps the width of its roman, and 2 stylistic sets.
