Héctor Gatti named this typeface after his home city, Rosario in Argentina, and kept it to himself for a while: he developed it in 2003 for private use, and only later did Omnibus Type bring it out for everyone. Google has carried it since September 2011, and in 2019 the family was rebuilt as a variable font.
It is a sans with classical proportions, a little contrast in the stroke, and soft, weak endings where the strokes finish. Omnibus aimed it at magazines and academic journals, places where a sans has to read for pages without tiring anyone.
The italic is noticeably narrower than the roman, about 7% on a line of text, so an italic phrase takes up less room than the words around it. In a justified column the word spacing will shift slightly when you use it.
5 weights from Light to Bold, each with an italic, and a thorough set of figures, including old style ones and a slashed zero. On a blog or a university site we would set Regular at 18 px with the old style figures on, so dates in a sentence stay in line with the lowercase.
