Parastoo looks back to B Nazanin, the classic Persian text face, and then tries to fix what went wrong with fonts of that generation. Legacy Farsi fonts came with localization and display problems in current software, and Saber Rastikerdar set out to draw a Persian face that renders correctly and keeps its typographic details intact.
The structure is Naskh, the everyday book hand of the Arabic script, with clean strokes, small serif-like finishes and a moderate amount of contrast. It is meant for reading at length, in print and on screens, in dense pages of text, and the spacing was worked out with that in view.
It is Persian first. Other languages written in the Perso-Arabic script will work, but for standard Arabic shaping you have to set the text language to Arabic explicitly in your application, or you will get the Persian forms.
There are 4 weights, Regular to Bold, and a Latin alphabet with Vietnamese for the occasional English term. That Latin is drawn small, so in a bilingual line it stays in the background. The project dates from 2016; Google added it in May 2025.
